Why a Digital Recycling project?
The Muath Trust in partnership with Hall Green NNS are addressing the challenges faced by the digital divide through an exciting Digital Recycling Project. We want to make sure unwanted digital devices are put to good use within the local community. The aim of this Project is to help local people get on online, especially those who are unable to connect to the internet and lack the confidence to get online.
Who will benefit?
People on low incomes living in Balsall Heath, Hall Green, Kings Heath/Brandwood, Moseley, Sparkhill and Sparkbrook.
What devices do we need?
We need laptops, desk top computers, tablets and smart phones. All donated devices must be in good working order and come with power cables and chargers.
What will happen to donated devices?
We will clear existing data on all received devices then gift it someone who cannot afford to buy a device in order to go online. We will also specifically offer people aged over 50 with additional support to get online if they need it.
What difference will donated devices have on recipients?
Donated devices will:
- Help someone isolated contact family and friends.
- Help people with job searching online.
- Enable someone to access essential online services.
