GreenSquareAccord has been the voluntary sector lead partner for Early Help in the Hall Green locality since 2020, and Selly Oak locality as of 2022.
Early Help focuses on building on a family’s strengths and interests and offers positive, practical support to help manage difficult issues and challenges.
GreenSquareAccord’s Hall Green and Selly Oak Families Early Help team work across Moseley, Kings Heath, Sparkhill, Sparkbrook, Balsall Heath, Hall Green, Billesley, Bournbrook, Selly Park, Bournville, Cotteridge, Brandwood, Kings Heath, Druids Heath, Monyhull, Highters Heath, Kings Norton North, Stirchley, Weoley & Selly Oak!
We support children, young people and families through:
- Sharing information and connecting people to local services, community groups and activities (the aim is to make it easier for people to get the support they need near to where they live – find our Family Support Directory on our Resources page)
- Providing support and guidance through telephone support, email and social media
- Strengthening community capacity to support Early Help through training and Early Help Assessments
- Connecting families to extra support via the Family Connect approach
- Co-ordinating the distribution of the Government’s Household Support Fund grants of up to £200 per household facing hardship.
We work closely with Birmingham Children’s Trust, Hall Green and Selly Oak Early Years teams, schools, nurseries, the youth service, health, faith communities and active local organisations. Birmingham Children’s Partnership includes Birmingham City Council, Birmingham Children’s Trust, Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and West Midlands Police. All voluntary sector leads are supported by Birmingham Voluntary Services Council.
