This course offers an insight into living with Dementia and is suitable for anyone with caring responsibilities for a person living with Dementia.

Why is this training important?

Dementia training is vital for improving care quality, communication, and safety for individuals with dementia. It also supports caregiver wellbeing, reduces stigma, and promotes person centred care.

Course Content


• Explain what is meant by the term dementia
• Identify the signs and symptoms of dementia
• Understand the different types of Dementia
• Explain why early diagnosis is important
• Explain what is involved in ‘living well’
• Identify how dementia affects the person, their family and our wider society
• Understand how to communicate effectively and compassionately with individuals who have dementia.
• To be able to create a dementia friendly environment

Duration: 3-hour programme
Assessment: Multiple choice quiz and trainer observation
