For Hall Green NNS Grant-Funded Assets
Duration: 3 hours | Format: In-person, hands-on workshop
Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Managing a community project with limited resources can be challenging — but having the right financial tools makes a world of difference.

This engaging, practical workshop is designed for individuals and organisations who have received funding through the Hall Green Neighbourhood Network Scheme (NNS). Whether you’re new to financial tracking or looking to sharpen your budgeting skills, this session will equip you with essential Excel-based techniques to help you stay organised, transparent, and on top of your grant finances.

With a strong focus on real-life applications, you’ll receive step-by-step guidance, access to ready-to-use templates, and support tailored to your specific project needs.

Participants will leave the session able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of financial management and their importance for grant-funded projects
  • Create and manage budgets in Excel that are both practical and funder-compliant
  • Use formulas and functions to automate expense tracking and reduce manual errors
  • Monitor project spending to ensure alignment with funding goals and timelines
  • Generate clear and concise reports for funders, stakeholders, and internal use
  • Build confidence in applying Excel to everyday financial tasks within community organisations

This training is hands-on and interactive, with a strong emphasis on real-life applications. You’ll receive step-by-step support and pre-designed templates that you can adapt for your own organisation’s needs. We encourage participants to bring financial documents or current project data to work on during the session if they wish. There will also be opportunities for one-to-one support during the Q&A and guidance on accessing free online mentoring beyond the workshop.

By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped to confidently manage grant funding, create project budgets, monitor expenses, and prepare transparent reports using Microsoft Excel. These skills are not only valuable for day-to-day financial tasks but also essential for maintaining funder trust and demonstrating impact within your community.

This workshop is ideal for volunteers, project leads, coordinators, and administrators involved with Hall Green NNS-funded initiatives. No prior experience in financial management or advanced Excel is required — just a willingness to learn. To take part, you’ll need to bring a laptop with Microsoft Excel installed.
