Hall Green Neighbourhood Network Scheme (NNS) was proud to attend and host a stall at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Health Awareness Day, held at Sparkbrook Community and Health Centre. The event, organised by Sparkhill Job Centre in partnership with the Pure Project, brought together a wide range of local organisations to promote health, wellbeing, and access to community support.
The Health Awareness Day encouraged collaboration between community partners, aiming to raise awareness, break down barriers, and empower individuals to lead healthier, more connected lives.
Alongside Hall Green NNS, a number of valued partners participated, including The Voice for Epilepsy, Pure Project, Saheli Work Well, Trident Group, Sparkbrook Children’s Zone, Household Support Fund, Check & Connect from Midland Mencap, and Basharat from Dar Ul Jannah, who provided additional community support.
Attendees also heard from David Abosch of the ReCognition Circular Project, a Birmingham-based social enterprise dedicated to tackling digital exclusion and electronic waste through skills development and circular economy initiatives. The project supports people in gaining digital and technical skills by refurbishing and reusing IT equipment, helping residents access online health, employment, and education opportunities. David shared inspiring insights into how improving digital inclusion not only enhances employability but also contributes to overall wellbeing and social connection across the community.
Hall Green NNS extends thanks to DWP, Sparkhill Job Centre, and the Pure Project for bringing partners together for such a meaningful and engaging event.
“Events like these show the power of collaboration across our communities — helping residents access the right support, build confidence, and take positive steps toward better health and wellbeing,” said Thieba Bibi, NNS Programme Manager.
The Health Awareness Day demonstrated how collaborative working between local organisations can make a tangible difference in people’s lives, connecting residents with the advice, information, and encouragement they need to thrive.
