We’re thrilled to announce that our Way to Go Hero for April 2025 was Early Help’s very own Mikel Stewart!
Mikel was nominated by our Early Help Operational Manager, Kirsty Arrowsmith, for his outstanding commitment to assisting a customer in securing benefits they were entitled to.
Kirsty said: “Mikel has worked tirelessly with many GSA customers. The GSA customers in our service are vulnerable families who need support in many different aspects of their lives. It could be related to educational issues such as SEND, domestic abuse, housing, financial support including helping customers become work ready.
“Mikel was working with a family that were really struggling financially – he listened, understood their needs and referred them to our partners at DWP. From this, it was evident that this family were not in receipt of the correct benefits and appear to have been struggling for years! From this referral Mikel was able to obtain our GSA customer almost a £9000 back payment! This has helped the family get out of debt, back on their feet and able to move forward. Without Mikel’s support and interventions, this would never have been possible.

On hearing the news that he had won Mikel said: “Instinctively, I do not like the spotlight, and I prefer supporting the team and families without any attention being drawn to myself. However, having a team as amazing as my own, who will not let a day go without expressing appreciation for me is a welcomed change of pace. I am grateful for the nomination and the win! Thank you to both my team and the wider organisation!”
