Partnership in Action: Hall Green NNS Presents at Narthex

21 May 2025

We had a fantastic time at Narthex in Sparkhill, where we were invited to take part in a community event bringing together local organisations, volunteers, and residents. It was a great opportunity to talk about the work we’re doing through the Hall Green Neighbourhood Network Scheme (NNS) — supporting older adults and younger adults across Hall Green to stay connected, independent, and well.

At Hall Green NNS, we work closely with local groups, faith organisations, charities and residents to help older people stay independent, connected, and active. Whether it’s funding grassroots projects, linking people to services, or supporting volunteers to make a difference in their neighbourhoods, our focus is always on local solutions that work for local people.

Robina Parvez, Client support worker at Narthex added: “Our aim was to get the local community together to let them know what support is available to them – so this has been very useful. I’m sure we’ll be inundated with lots of enquiries about some of the services you’ve discussed today – Thankyou for sharing!”

It was also a privilege to hear from some incredible Birmingham-based organisations doing vital work across the city:

Keira from Thrive Birmingham shared how they’re supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing and personal development through creative, nature-based and therapeutic interventions. Their holistic, trauma-informed approach is making a huge difference in schools and communities.

Sandra from Sandfords in Digbeth highlighted the wide-reaching support they offer to adults including apprenticeships with hands on Construction experience — meeting people where they are.

Amer from Narthex Sparkhill spoke about their deeply rooted community work, offering practical support like food distribution, advice services, and social activities for local residents of all ages and backgrounds.

We really enjoyed sharing what we’ve been doing through the Hall Green Neighbourhood Network Scheme, and it was great to have such a warm response. Big thanks to everyone who took the time to listen, ask questions and chat with us afterwards!

A heartfelt thank you to Narthex for inviting us and for the warm welcome! It’s always uplifting to be in a room with others who are passionate about building stronger, more connected communities across Birmingham and we are always excited to be part of these conversation!
